FIRE RETARDANT TREATED WOOD (FRTW)

What is FRTW?

Fire-retardant treated wood (FRTW), as defined by the National Building Code of Canada (NBC), is wood or a wood product that has had its surface-burning characteristics, such as flame spread, rate of fuel contribution and density of smoke developed, reduced by impregnation with fire-retardant chemicals.

What is LIGTAN FRTW from MIVIKO?

LIGTAN, our esteemed brand, introduces Fire Retardant Treated Wood (FRTW) - a remarkable creation that encompasses the fusion of natural wood and the infusion of cutting-edge Nano chemicals through an intricate vacuum pressure impregnation process during its very manufacturing. The result? A resplendent marvel that not only bears the authentic color and captivating scent of the original wood but also possesses an unwavering resistance to the devastating force of fire, effectively impeding its relentless propagation.

Beyond its formidable fire-retardant properties, FRTW LIGTAN from Miviko goes above and beyond by fortifying itself against the incessant threat of termites and other malicious agents that seek to undermine the integrity of wood structures. With an unwavering commitment to excellence, this product exceeds the exacting standards outlined by the fireproof standard QCVN 06:2022/BXD and proudly attains a prestigious B/s1/d0 rating in accordance with the rigorous benchmarks set forth by both the European Union and British authorities.

What is the fire standard for FRTW?

Our product is meticulously designed to comply with the stringent UL 723 (ASTM E84), DIN 4102, ISO 5657 and Vietnam standard 06:2022/BXD, ensuring top-notch quality and safety.

In the unfortunate event of exposure to fire, our product guarantees the absence of toxic fumes, thereby prioritizing the well-being and safety of individuals. Its surface burning characteristics are outstanding, boasting a UL FR-S rating and achieving flame spread and smoke developed ratings of 25 or less during a rigorous 30-minute test in accordance with IBC section 2303.2.

What are the advantages of using FRTW?

With a remarkable flame retardant effect that lasts for more than a decade, our product is a testament to its reliability and long-lasting performance. Moreover, it is entirely devoid of any toxic smell, making it completely safe for interior use.

Not only does our product excel in fire resistance, but it also exhibits low corrosion tendencies, ensuring its structural integrity over time. Its low hygroscopicity prevents any undesirable swelling, while its composition is entirely free from VOCs or Formaldehyde, making it environmentally friendly and ideal for health-conscious individuals.

Additionally, it seamlessly integrates with common woodworking tools, allowing for convenient and hassle-free application.

Why should we use fire retardant treated wood?

Most importantly, fire retardant treated wood can save lives. Its treatment process helps to prevent combustion which delays fire and smoke spread. This delay gives occupants more time to safely exit the building and fire crews more time to control the fire. Additionally, fire treated wood can be a more cost-effective way to meet code and can lower insurance rates.
